Course Description

Bottom-line: Emotional Intelligence is the sine qua non of the most influential leaders. Because leadership is a social influence process – anyone at any time within your organization has the opportunity to demonstrate leadership behaviors – EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IS FOR EVERYONE!!!

While technical skills and intelligence are essential ingredients for success, the research has proven that emotional intelligence is twice as important as determining an individual’s success. Individuals who recognize the core competencies of EQ and actively build them over time increase not only their performance but also that of their followers.

This hands-on workshop explores the core competencies of emotional intelligence and, using a sophisticated talent assessment, facilitates the participant through a series of exercises to build their EQ. Upon completing this session, the participants will be able to teach EQ to others, have their action plan to develop their EQ, and access a tool for ongoing development support.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the importance of emotional intelligence contributes to successful leadership

  • Identify the sophisticated cognitive process associated with building emotional intelligence

  • Recall the five core competencies that make up emotional intelligence

  • Determine how to debunk conventional management wisdom and practices (e.g., Golden Rule vs. Platinum Rule)

  • Determine your self-awareness in terms of strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots

  • Identify perceptions in the workplace and how they influence group dynamics and effective communication

  • Determine best practices of accurately evaluating others as opposed to labeling and judging

  • Determine how to utilize emotional intelligence to build stronger, more effective relationships with co-workers

  • Determine how to create an action plan to develop your emotional intelligence after the workshop concludes
