Course Description

On September 27, a New York Times article created quite a stir about President Trump’s taxes that do not seem calming. Why all the fuss?

Americans have long been fixated on their President’s taxes. This time, a third-party supplied the info, not the President himself. The ultimate questions are, what does the New York Times article reveal, and what will be its impact?

This course parses the federal tax side of the alleged story: the issues, the underlying law, what the New York Times says, and what we don’t know.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify what the New York Times reported

  • Identify the tax law behind such tax issues

  • List ways to talk with clients about these tax issues

  • Name the reactive calls by various parties to change the system
